12/23 - 10p

it feels like vacation time....while we were gone the other kids got the (fake) tree up, it looks so nice, with it's blue lights. Although we're running out of room in the living room, the ping pong table is up so the younger ones can work on the project they have to get done in a couple weeks. And the presents don't fit under the tree...

My mom made us a festive table runner (she's seriously into quilting), so wife got out some holiday centerpieces with candles and green stuff to put on it. Looks great except I need to get the rest of my crap off the table! cd cases, laptop, books, bills, etc.

In laws came to visit today, we went out for lunch...they brought wife's brother (who does look rather thin). After they left oldest son and I went to help a friend who has to move a couple decades collection of engine parts (he and his dad ran a machine shop) from a warehouse they sold...lots of cast iron! heads, blocks, crankshafts, etc. He dosn't have room for all of it. so he got a roll-off that's about 20 feet long and it's been getting filled, it's about 3 or 4 feet deep in engine parts that mostly are still useable but are unwanted. we'll probablly go back tomorrow morning and help some more. I got some old goodies from the collection, mostly 50s chevy parts that I probably won't do anything with. These include some 216/235 heads, a block, and some stagger bolt small block chevy heads. plus the valve covers and oil pan from a truck 348 (the infamous W motor from about the time I was born).

He has to have everything out by the 27th, and it looks like he'll make it. Hopefully it won't rain or snow on all the parts that are in his back yard that have to go into his garage, carefully stacked so they'll fit.

Although it feels pretty nippy out and the clouds have been moving in...

Kid rescued an "exit" sign from the scrap heap. He saw some at a surplus store recently way overpriced, and thought one would look good in his room...so now he has one, for the small fee of moving lumps of iron for an hour or two. We just have to put a cord on it, and see if the wierd light bulbs in it work.

I guess the car works ok after the kid fixed it, they drove it to the basketbal game ok on Tuesday and the home team won handily.

The pellet stove is running and keeping us warm...

I hope you'all have a safe and happy Christmas and may Santa treat you well!
